Joe Lucia joined the Substance Use Disorders team at MCCFL in September of 2014 and has a deep rooted belief that all people can recover no matter what their history. He believes there are multiple paths to recovery and is open to help each client find the one that works for them.
Joe provides counseling services to individuals struggling with substance use disorders and/or gambling addictions in an effort to help them make the necessary changes to improve the quality of their lives. He engages clients individually and as a group facilitator both for treatment and DUII education. Joe has a strong passion for relapse prevention and helping clients to understand the different phases of relapse and how to manage relapse warning signs once they achieve recovery.
Joe Lucia is currently credentialed as a CADC II, CGAC-R, QMHA, & CRM. He has been a certified trainer of the Connecticut Community of Addiction Recovery, a SAMHSA approved Recovery Coach Academy Curriculum since 2012. His education includes a Bachelors degree in Human Services from Ottawa University in 2014 and Joe earned certificates of completion in Addictions and Substance Use Disorders from Rio Salado College (Level 1 in 2013) & (Level 2 in 2014). In 2017 he received a Recovery – Oriented Addiction Professional Certificate by completing the NAADAC Recovery to Practice Certificate program and in 2019 he completed the Lewis & Clark College Gambling Counselor pre-certification education.
