It depends on your goals and needs. Some people come for a few sessions, while others choose ongoing support. The ASAM (American Society of Addiction Medicine) assessment is a detailed evaluation that helps determine the safest and most effective level of care for your recovery. It looks at six key areas of your life—such as physical health, emotional well-being, substance use history, living environment, and readiness for change. This ensures your treatment plan is tailored to your unique needs, giving you the right support at the right time.

ASAM defines levels of care based on how much structure and support you need. Here’s what that means for you:

  • Level 0.5 – Early Intervention
Brief education or counseling for those at risk of developing a substance use disorder. This is preventive and often short-term.
  • Level 1 – Outpatient Services
You live at home and attend scheduled counseling sessions—usually 1–2 times per week. This level works well if you have strong support and minimal withdrawal risk.
  • Level 2 – Intensive Outpatient (IOP)
More structured care with multiple sessions per week, often 9–20 hours total. You still live at home but receive frequent support to help stabilize recovery.
  • Level 3 – Residential / Inpatient Services
24-hour care in a treatment facility. You’ll have a safe, structured environment with therapy, peer support, and daily activities focused on recovery.
  • Level 4 – Medically Managed Intensive Inpatient

Hospital-based care for severe withdrawal or medical complications. This level provides constant medical supervision and stabilization before transitioning to other services.

If you need specialized care we don’t offer—such as couples counseling, animal-assisted therapy, or higher levels of care—we’ll help connect you to the right resources in the community.
